“Food is our common ground, a universal experience.” -- James Beard
DealFlow is working on the storyboard for an upcoming food episode, specifically, Fred’s idea is to address long term food supply issues. This is a significant topic as “food” may be broadly defined as agriculture, transportation, politics, business – and our initial focus has been on Saskatchewan.
Canada is a perfect example of an economy that will increasingly be relied on by many others as a reliable source of food by China and other countries that cannot feed their growing populations or because climates do not permit grain and other types of agri-production. It is emotional, politically charged and rightly so leads to opinionated conversation. For example: “...food supplies can go from surplus to starvation very quickly and in a world where economies are so intertwined, any interruption in flow, or trade issues, can lead to consequences.”
This episode could look at farming; does scale matter and what sorts of technology will be deployed to maximize productivity? Other ideas: GPS technology for farm machinery, pig farms and other sources of protein, the future of mega farms, and the government's role should be examined both as it pertains to encouraging adoption of new methods and technologies and assisting in opening new external markets and attracting capital.
Lots to consider and given the broad scope of the subject, we will need a lot of input from different sources. So please do send us any of your ideas or comment on this blog-site as we attempt to make this a more interactive tool moving forward. As an aside, the grossest quote I received on food this morning was “Food has replaced sex in my life, now I can't even get into my own pants.”

If you know someone around you who is being a little shady and you are getting uncomfortable around them, then maybe you might want to run a small background report on the person in question to make sure that they are 'who they say they are'.
Many people misrepresent themselves as the situation benefits them
The passenger seat in the car has been moved from its usual position.
Often when you answer the phone, the caller hangs up on the other side.
Your spouse joins the gym after years of being a slothful couch potato.
